SEATTLE, Washington -- September 3, 2003 -- Heather Roraback began painting as a teenager. Besieged by chronic migraine headaches, painting provided a release from the crippling pain. Heather –who has almost no formal training- remembers thinking that painting would be a temporary release, and that when the headaches subsided, so would her foray into the art world.

That was then. These days, Heather Roraback's abstract paintings have been accepted at shows and galleries on both coasts, and have been purchased by private collectors as far away as the United Kingdom, Italy, Tokyo and the Bahamas. The migraines never completely faded, but her passion for painting has continued to grow and so have the accolades: in 2003 alone, Heather's collections have been showcased at the San Francisco, CA Mayor's Office and accepted by the prestigious Agora Gallery in SoHo, NYC.

Heather, who paints in both acrylics and oils, cites Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock as primary influences. Her works are abstract in nature, evoking the wide-open landscapes and emotions that their titles suggest… Sunbreak… Little Fiji… Ireland…Smash…

However, it is her love of interior design that is Heather's biggest source of motivation: "I often paint with particular spaces in mind, trying to create art that has a function in everyday life, I call it ‘ART …FOR LIVING SPACES.'"
