ARTIST AND EDUCATOR SHARON STEUER ANNOUNCES "CREATIVE THINKING IN PHOTOSHOP" COURSE OUTLINE AVAILABLE FREE TO ASSIST COLLEGE TEACHERS Free "Digital Painting" Lesson Plan Available Online as Companion To Top-Selling Textbook

Bethany, CT – February 17, 2003 – Sharon Steuer announced today the availability of a new lesson plan in digital painting to complement her breakthrough book, "Creative Thinking In Photoshop: A New Approach To Digital Art." Karen Wheeler, Assistant Professor of Art of Wingate University, developed the course outline "Digital Painting with Photoshop." Designed for college and advanced secondary school students, Professor Wheeler's plan is a 14-week course that emphasizes methods for students to simulate traditional artist's media and prepare their art for publication or output. The course outline is available free at www.ssteuer.com/edu.

"I wrote ‘Creative Thinking in Photoshop' to teach artists, photographers and designers how to use Photoshop as a new creativity and visualization tool. Karen's course is a wonderful way to learn digital painting and Photoshop, the way artists work. I plan to add additional course outlines and other educational resources to my website throughout the coming year (www.steuer.com/edu) " said Steuer.

Steuer's new "creative thinking method" empowers novice Photoshop students to become productive in no time, and without memorizing tool sets or following boring examples. Instead, her book thoughtfully leads students to expand on their own art in new ways. Numerous projects and exercises teach students to experiment and expand artistic vision. Filled with ideas for educators who are looking for ways to integrate digital with traditional tools, Steuer's book includes exploration suggestions at the end of each chapter, as well as an extensive "Techniques at a Glance" section which give students and instructors project ideas for specific techniques, tools, functions and concepts.

Steuers's Creative Thinking In Photoshop has garnered rave reviews from many art educators. (See below.)

"Creative Thinking in Photoshop" is exactly the book I was searching for and is now the required text for my ‘Digital Painting' classes. By focusing on the creative aspects of projects, my students engage themselves in a process of discovery. They learn to experiment and improvise and thus are finding their own imaginative methods for integrating digital and traditional artist's tools."- Karen Wheeler, Assistant Professor of Art, Wingate University

"I can't wait to bring this book to my classroom. So many people speak about the potential of the computer. But ‘Creative Thinking in Photoshop' shows how to use Photoshop creatively and motivates the reader to be creative." – Faith Baum, adjunct faculty, Rhode Island School of Design

"This book teaches the principles the way I learned it—dabbling on my own projects while looking over the shoulder of an experienced artist. Principles are best learned in practice, and by the end of the book, I felt as though I'd learned from a friend who had subtly become my Zen master." -- Jerald D. Cole, Professor of New Media at New York Institute of Technology

"This book is fantastic. I love that this book is touching on things that I haven't seen before in any other computer book. I love that this book takes the computer another step. ‘Creative Thinking in Photoshop' makes things clear and simple, so I can stop worrying about making mistakes, and instead of try experimenting with new things and new ways of working!" – Laurie Grace, illustrator and educator

"…What students and developing artists need above all is a better understanding of the dynamic integration of digital tools and techniques in the creative process. ‘Creative Thinking" takes exactly that approach, and does it through the heart and mind of the artist and her work." – Rick Barry, associate professor, Pratt Institute New York

"I will be recommending "Creative Thinking in Photoshop" to all our students. There are so many books that deal with just technique and the tools, but this book really integrates the creative process, and provokes thinking." -- Fatima NeJame, Executive Director, Palm Beach Photographic Centre

"Refreshing, Insightful, and Inspiring – ‘Creative Thinking in Photoshop' breaks away from the multitude of 'how-to' books and delves into the fascinating world of creating digital art." -- Katrin Eismann, artist, educator and author
