May 21, 2004 -- Jo Ann Hakola, The Book Faerie, has been selling books for five years and trying to sell books in a variety of ways. The newest mode of sales in the internet world of WAHM's is online parties in chat rooms. After participating in a few, she saw a need to create a permanent group of shops with unique products that would draw people to a party – and a need to not overwhelm shoppers with too many parties too often.

That led to the formation of A Potpourri of Shops, a diverse group of shops with some uncommon goods for sale. This group includes a basket weaver, a bead worker, a twig wreath maker, a tole painter, crocheters, a rock expert (for health and power), an herbal remedy healer, an out-of-print books bookseller, and, even, Tupperware. Parties will be held on a quarterly basis.

Web Page One Designs has partnered with A Potpourri of Shops to create a venue for their members who own home-based businesses by offering advertising, web services, and quarterly sales events to showcase their wares.
